spi flash vs sd card

A USB flash drive is designed to plug into a USB jack on a PC, tablet, printer, etc… outside of the device, instead of a USB cable. An SD memory card is mostly similar, only with a controller chip that understands the SD interface rather than the USB interface. A USB card is designed to run mostly on all devices or go all the way inside a
Flash memory is a non-volatile EEPROM used for storage and transfering data between a computer (PC) and digital devices, which can be electrically erased and reprogrammed. It has two main types: NOR-type flash and NAND-type flash. eMMC is an internal storage card, its architecture puts the MMC (MultiMediaCard) into a small ball grid array (BGA

QE bit is required to be set to a 1 before issuing an “Enable QPI (38h)” to switch the device from Standard/Dual/Quad SPI to QPI, otherwise the command will be ignored. When the device is in QPI mode, QE bit will remain to be 1. A “Write Status Register” command in QPI mode cannot change QE bit from a “1” to a “0”.

The pin CD is for detect if the card is inserted or not. You can connect a pull-up resistor to it and while the card is not inserted that pin will be a high level and when the SD card is inserted it will be low level. You can use an interrupt for detect the insertion of the SD card and initialize it, for example, or make the code write data

Secure Digital (SD) memory cards have a widespread use in industrial and automotive applications, ranging from read only applications as in navigation systems to utilization as boot media, for video recording or data logging. Swissbit’s Industrial Secure Digital (SD) card series are designed for high sustained performance and endurance and

MicroPython ESP32 debug port is used for printing the debug statements. During startup, the SPI bus and SD card is initialized. Initially a “sample.txt” file is created / opened with FILE_WRITE option. If file open is success, then the program writes running numbers (0 to19), into “sample.txt”, and then closes.
It is interesting that Technical reference does not mention embedded flash in its "internal memory" section at all. All the references to flash are made in a context of external SPI memory. Furthermore, the pinout in C3 datasheet has this note: Ports of embedded flash correspond to pins of ESP32-C3FN4 and ESP32-C3FH4 as follows
SD Card vs Flash SPI ypearson over 7 years ago I would like to test the Fatfs demo using a target spi flash memory chip. The example code calls out sd card fatfs driver. Can I assume that spi flash memory is the same as a spi sd card memory? thanks. Sign in to reply I would like to test the Fatfs demo using a target spi flash memory chip.

I am using a SD card to store values from a RFID reader RC522. Both use the SPI bus, and are known to have compatibility issues. I have connected them together using a different CS only and all other pins being same and when I remove power of SD card module, RC522 works well and when I remove MOSI of RC522 SD card works.

Circuit and Interfacing. SD card has a native host interface apart from the SPI mode for communicating with master devices. The native interface uses four lines for data transfer where the microcontroller has SD card controller module and it needs separate license to use it. Since the SPI is a widely used protocol and it is available in most
